Always ask a motorcycle trader about what kind of motorcycle to buy

There are a lot of things you should know before deciding on what motorcycle to buy. Usually when beginners are trying to buy a motorcycle, they think about how the motorcycle looks, how powerful the engine is, and how much it costs. Of course these are all very important things to consider. But there are other factors that you should also keep in mind when choosing what motorcycle to buy. Some of the best people you could go to for advice would be a motorcycle trader.

They can help you navigate through the various aspects of buying a motorcycle, including many that ordinary people like me and you may not even think of. One of the most important things to consider when buying a motorcycle for example is how the motorcycle depreciates and how much it will be worth a few years down the road. I myself had no idea when I was buying my first motorcycle. I’m happy that my friend is a motorcycle or else I would have never known to even consider such a thing.

Some tips on motorcycle depreciation

A common misconception is that depreciation happens way down the road. But that is not exactly correct. The biggest drop in value usually occurs during the first year of ownership. It may be interesting for you to know that a brand new motorcycle’s value drops almost by 20 percent during the first two years.

Of course there are other factors as well that affect the rate of depreciation such as mileage and the overall condition of the motorcycle. But what is important to remember is that this number also differs from one brand or type of motorcycle to another.

Motorcycle traders no a lot about depreciation of different types and brands

To know what type and brand of motorcycle to buy that will lose less value down the road make sure to consult a motorcycle trader. New motorcycles by Honda, Yamaha and BMW usually tend to depreciate faster than other brands. But even more important than the motorcycle brand, is the type of bike you are considering. For example sports bikes or tourers have different depreciation rates than ordinary motorcycles.

That’s why it’s important to do a little bit of digging on motorcycle depreciation before purchasing a motorcycle. So as I just said, the depreciation rate is different for different types of motorcycles.
